Deadline to apply for your class(es): Friday 23 December 2022

The event 'Researchers go back to school' is back for its 13th edition! During the week from Monday 13 to Friday 17 March 2023, researchers working in Luxembourg will visit secondary schools throughout the country to present and explain to pupils their fascinating profession, which is unfortunately still too little known to the general public. These get-togethers between researchers and pupils can take place during or after regular school hours.

The interactive sessions are aimed in particular at pupils in the final classes: 3rd - 1st (pupils aged between 16 and 19). These sessions last 50-90 minutes and can take place during regular school hours or after school.

Unfortunately, we are unable to meet the high number of requests, so we operate on a "first come, first served" basis.

Additional information

Even if research is increasingly covered in the media, the profession of researcher in itself is still not well known by the general public and especially by young people. Why and how is research carried out? What does it bring? Are the things we learn at school useful in research? What are the fields of research in Luxembourg? What is the daily life of a researcher? Are there professional opportunities in Luxembourg in research? ... - to name just a few examples of questions that pupils ask scientists. The experience of the last few years has shown great interest on the part of the pupils, who are often highly motivated. Interventions are not a priori directly related to a specific subject, but rather of a general and personal nature. They are not scientific speeches, but a real interactive exchange between researchers and pupils!
